Films of Beauty and a Word

Stuff Worth Sharing / No. 003 / edmundmitchell.com

  1. Catholic Creatives and a ton of other wonderful Catholic film artists are collaborating to create a unconventional mini-doc on the beatitudes. Project name: 8beats.

  2. OK GO on How to Find a Wonderful Idea.

  3. A wonderful letter and short film by one of my heroes, Jenna from Blessed is She, created by The Catholic Woman.

  4. A short film on Benedicta, an album of gregorian chant from the Monks of Nursia.

  5. A talk I gave on the Word Became Flesh with one of my favorite segments from Radio Lab about a deaf man who didn't know what a word was.

Wonderful Podcasts

Stuff Worth Sharing / No. 002 / edmundmitchell.com

  1. Silversmith Collective, a sleek design company, has a new podcast called The Coaster talking about Catholic topics and life.

  2. I heard Sr. Miriam speak at Steubenville Lonestar and fell in love. Her podcast, Abiding Together, is discussion based, and is currently walking through Evangelii Gaudium. Win!

  3. The Catholic Feminist is a podcast that should exist.

  4. Michael Gormley of Catching Foxes and evangelization now talks about learning beer on his Beer Me podcast.

  5. The Frank Show is our parish-based podcast where our wonderful Department of Evangelization and Catechesis talk about Jesus and stuff.

Making America Great

Stuff Worth Sharing / No. 001 / edmundmitchell.com

  1. Saint Drogo Coffee roasters out of Bay City, MI. We connected on instagram and they sent us some samples...GOOD COFFEE HERE FOLKS. Made by a good Catholic.

  2. Olivia added a 8.5x11 print option of the lovely little watercolor of Mary that she made. It's so good and lovely you should buy one for your mom.

  3. Vatican released a questionnaire for youth (ages 16-29). If you're in the (very wide) age range, take the survey! Yes, parts of it are frustratingly written.

  4. If you work for a Church, Church Media Spot is the all time biggest motherload of links. Seriously. Click graphics and browse all the free series packages. I downloaded way too many and probably spent too much time here.

  5. This is a long and interesting read proposing some guidelines for Church art.

  6. Remember to make America great again.

Offensive Linemen

Stuff Worth Sharing / No. 000 / edmundmitchell.com

  1. Put on some headphones and rock to this track: Listen to the Storm by Puppet.

  2. Why offensive lineman don't really have stats and how they're evaluated. I've been thinking (again) about how to measure success or effectiveness in ministry, which led me to write my half-baked thoughts on Facebook.

  3. Super hipster gift idea: vintage locking bank bags. Think small organizer bag. Related idea is an actual money bag, which would be awesome to keep a bunch of socks in. (tip o' the hat to ROTL)

  4. Video: The Inner Game of Tennis. Watch as the author of the same-titled book takes a woman who has never played tennis and gets her playing a full game in an extremely short amount of time, all by getting her to let go of trying. Read the book too.

  5. Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa's Advent homilies to the Papal Household have been buried treasure for years. This year's homily for the third week of Advent on the "sober intoxication" was particularly good. Read the book he wrote about it too.

  6. Zach Anner of Soul Pancake interviewing a lovely Catholic homeschooling mother of lots of kids is really great. I don't know how much editing was done but she explained aspects of the faith in the clearest way I've heard in a long time.

  7. Penny and Sparrow's rendition of Simon & Garfunkle's 7 O'Clock News / Silent Night is haunting and probably exactly what you need to hear right now. Don't miss the video description either.
